Product Testing - Lock and Hinge Lever Test |
|
The effects of a jemmy attack against a security screen door or window grille are simulated by allowing a standardised narrow-bladed lever (representing a large screw driver) to be inserted against the locking, fastening and hinging points and a turning force (torque) is applied to those points via the lever. The test panel fails if all the hinges, or all the locking points or all the fastening points (screws holding a window section onto the wall) fail, or if the edge of the security door or window has deflected to make a gap wider than 15cm. Invisi-gard products pass this test thanks to the strength of our Patented EGP Retention System. Also all Invisi-gard hinged security doors are manufactured with three point locks as a standard feature. Three point locks provide higher security as not only does the lock engage in the centre position but also has extra latches towards the top and bottom of the door that give even more strength. Pull Test The product fails the test if the edge of the panel can be deflected to form a 45cm gap between it and the door or window frame when under the pulling force, or if a 15cm gap remains when the force is removed. It also fails if a gap forms in the infill material (mesh) that allows a 65mm x 25mm probe to pass through. Probe Test Invisi-gard products pass this test as the strength of our extruded aluminium frame and our Patented EGP Retention System do not allow a gap this big to be made in the mesh.
