Living by the forest in Buderim in Queensland sounds appealing, with the leafy outlook to enjoy, nearby bushwalks for daily walks, and colourful native birds as regular visitors. But not all wildlife is quite so welcome, with pesky insects and reptiles creating a major challenge when it comes to enjoying outdoor decks and verandahs.
The solution for this family home, located on the edge of the forest, has been to enclose the large outdoor patio area with Invisi-Gard security screens, giving them protection from insects and reptiles with the bonus of security credentials. The high visibility screens retain the bushland views and ventilation, preserving the sense of being in the midst of the rain forest while using the covered patio.
The enclosure effectively enlarges the home, transforming a previously underutilised area into a comfortable and secure outdoor entertaining room which can be used all year-round. Already covered from above, the deck area has been transformed into a sunroom-like space with the addition of the screens. Invisi-Gard screening can make many types of home additions such as verandahs, awnings or freestanding pergolas, into more useable space, or when used to create a screened porch, they add a secure home entry.
For this home, a pair of Invisi-Gard French security screen doors formed a key part of the addition, creating a new secure access point for the home from the screened patio. The French screen doors come with a triple locking system and double flush bolt as a standard inclusion, ensuring the home’s occupants will be safe and protected at all times.
The Invisi-Gard mesh used for both the French doors and the screens is created by weaving strands of 316 marine grade stainless steel. The specialised process produces an extremely strong, flat surface which gives the screens exceptionally high visibility. The combination of this mesh with the patented frame-locking system, makes Invisi-Gard much more than an insect screen for the deck area. Tested to meet and exceed the Australian Standards, the security screens are proven to repel attack from impact or sharp objects, providing protection from intruders all shapes and sizes. The screens also feature a Bushfire Attack Level (BAL) rating of BAL40, making them a useful asset in bushfire-prone regions.
